Colorado Revised Statutes § 38-45-101
Effective July 1, 2009, all homes in Colorado must have a carbon monoxide monitor/alarm installed within 15 feet of all bedroom doorways. This includes condominiums in the West Lake Lodge.
If you do not rent your condo unit, you must be in compliance with the law before you request a building permit for renovation or before you sell your unit.
If you rent your condo to vacation renters, in addition to being in compliance before requesting a building permit for renovation or selling your unit, you must also be in compliance with the law before any tenant occupies the your unit after July 1, 2009. This includes even a vacation renter, who is considered a tenant.
If you rent your condo through the Copper Mountain rental program, Copper Mountain Rental Owner Services and Building Services will ensure your rental units are in compliance with the new law.
Those of you who rent through other vacation rental companies or do-it-yourself, you may wish to consult an attorney to ensure you are in compliance with the new law.
